This policy outlines how Ultra Medical Group fulfills its commitment to protecting children, young people, and adults from harm, abuse, or neglect during their care with us.
What is Safeguarding?
Safeguarding means protecting an individual’s right to live in safety, free from abuse and neglect. It involves people and organisations working together to prevent and stop both the risks and experience of abuse or neglect.
Who Does it Cover?
Our policy covers all children (under 18) and adults at risk. An adult at risk is anyone over 18 who has needs for care and support and is unable to protect themselves from either the risk of, or the experience of, neglect or abuse.
Types of Abuse
Abuse can take many forms, including physical, domestic, sexual, emotional, financial, and modern slavery. We are trained to recognise signs of neglect, self-neglect, and organisational or systemic abuse.
Staff Responsibilities
All Ultra Medical Group staff have a duty to report any safeguarding concerns immediately. Every team member undergoes mandatory safeguarding training to ensure they can identify risks and act appropriately.
Sharing & Confidentiality
While we value patient confidentiality, safeguarding children and adults at risk takes precedence. Information will be shared with relevant authorities (like the local council or police) if there is a risk of harm.
Reporting Concerns
Any patient or family member can raise a concern with any clinician. Internal reports are escalated to our Safeguarding Lead, who coordinates with multi-agency partners to ensure effective protection.
Safer Recruitment
Our recruitment process includes robust background checks, including enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) checks, ensuring all staff are suitable to work with vulnerable populations.
Policy Review
This policy is reviewed annually or sooner if there are legislative changes or incident-based insights, ensuring our safeguarding practices remain compliant with current UK healthcare standards.
